Expressions of interest welcome

Well, after after 15 fun months of Bamakko goodness, i've decided the retail life is not for me - after lots and lots of thinking, it's time for me to move on to other things!

So, it looks like it's time to put a call out for expressions of interest for the space - perhaps you've always wanted to have your own little store on the edge of the CBD, but setting one up from scratch has seemed a little too intimidating... or perhaps you have your own awesome plans to create something new and shiny in an exciting emerging art, design and cultural precinct...

Either way - if you could see yourself at 358 Victoria St North Melbourne, send me an email at woot(at)bamakko(dot)com(dot)au :)

Thanks!
Ben

Keec Silent Auction for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal

As most everybody would know, large parts of Victoria have been taken by horrible bush fires, so here at the Keec Studio, we've decided to hold a silent auction of some of our brand new stock to help in our own small way.

Here's how it works:

We have three newer-than-new Keec hOP-scotch bags up for grabs - these aren't even on shelves yet.

All you have to do to win is email us at bushfire@keec.com.au with which item you would like to bid on, and how much you would like to donate to the Bushfire Appeal in order to win it!

At 5pm on Wednesday 18th February the highest bidder on each item wins their bag! We'll figure out a way to prove that you have made your donation to the appeal, and after that the bag is all yours! :)

Please please please only bid if you are prepared to pay the full amount of your winning bid.

So, here's what we have up for auction:
1. Small leather hOP-scotch with a feature panel designed by Melbourne duo Pandarosa. This bag would usually retail for around $220

2. Medium hOP-scotch canvas with a feature panel designed by Pete Hinch of Really Whale. This bag would usually retail for around $155.

3. Large hOP-scotch canvas with a feature panel designed by Sixto Tantiongco of Do Yeah Media. This bag would normally retail for around $220

Goodluck, and even if you don't win, you can still donate here!

push me down...

This came in today - a leather stamp so I emboss the tiny Keec logo onto the Pocketfriend wallets.

The stamp itself is quite beautiful - the logo is only about 15mm wide, and the whole thing is finished really nicely... mmmm

Keec Sale

Sorry for the pitiful amount of posts lately :( It's been a bit busy here at the Bamakko, as we've been preparing our new range of Keec bags. And, they're not far off!

There's been a slight design update to the hOP-scotch (side release buckles have been replaced by a simple magnet closure on all sizes now, making it much simpler to use), and I'm excited to say that we've been working on a new collab bag with Ariel and Andrea from the awesome-melbourne-based-creative-duo (currently operating out of Berlin), Pandarosa. I woulda thought that trying to develop something like this between opposite sides of the world would be extremely troublesome, but (mostly due to their hard work and organisation) the process was incredibly smooth. Thanks guys!

Stay tuned for the end result, currently being printed by the lovely ladies over at Ink & Spindle.

So, we're edging to put the new stuff out on the racks, which means we need to clear up some space for them! So, until they're all sold out, all of last year's Keec hOP-scotch bags are discounted as follows (as always, excludes layby and custom orders):

50% off one bag
55% off two bags
60% off three bags

There's still a fair range left - all hOP-scotch sizes are available in canvas, with prints by Really Whale, Do Yeah, and Orchis Morio available. We only have one small and one large leather hOP-scotch left (The small is a japanese floral silk, the large is a bright green silk)

Because of the sale, we'll be open a little more during the week (except this Thursday 5th) so stop on by if you get the chance! (If you're coming a long way and want to make sure there will be someone around, just give us a call on 0401 062 545 and we'll help you out!)

Thanks!

Happy New Year!

Thanks for your support through 2008 - Bamakko’s first year. We’re now on a short holiday and will be back on Saturday 3rd January with a NEW YEAR SALE! :-) (More on that at the bottom of this post)

As you might already know, the larger part of Bamakko is the design studio for bag and accessory label, Keec. Things have been getting pretty hectic in Keec-land, and they look to be becoming even more-so in 2009. Because of this, for the time being, Bamakko will only be open to the public on Saturdays from 10am - 4pm. The rest of the time Bamakko will operate as a design studio.

If you’d like to come and see some of the things inside Bamakko, but can’t make it on a Saturday, just give us a call on 0401 062 545 and we can arrange a time for you to come in!

Thanks again for your support in 2008, and thanks for supporting Melbourne Craft and Design!

Now... it’s plug time for our New Year Sale! Here’s the details:

Saturday the 3rd, 10th and 17th January, 10am - 4pm, is the BAMAKKO NEW YEAR SALE!

30% off any Keec product
40% off any 2 Keec products
50% off any 3 or more Keec products
10% - 30% off all tees and clothing
10% off everything else!

Plus, ride your bicycle to Bamakko and get an extra 5% off your total purchase!
